BSc Sport Management

The BSc (Hons) Sport Management (with Foundation) at Cardiff Met is a four-year full-time programme. The first year is a foundation year to prepare students who may not have direct entry qualifications. After that, students study the core three-year sport management degree. It trains students to become sports leaders, managers, planners, and policymakers by combining business and sports studies with applied projects and industry experience. In the degree years, students learn how sport organisations work and how to lead, plan, market, govern, and manage sporting events, programmes, and teams. The degree is CIMSPA-endorsed, meaning it meets professional standards for sport management in the UK.

In Year 1 (foundation included), students take modules to build core academic skills, sport science fundamentals, and introductory topics in sports performance. The programme uses Cardiff Met’s sport and health sciences facilities and leverages industry partnerships to offer work-based learning, real projects, and placements. Students may also gain experience in sport organisations, clubs, local authorities, or national bodies. Learning is through lectures, seminars, workshops, group work, and independent study. Students utilise case studies, real-world sports data, guest lectures, and project work. Assessment includes essays, reports, exams, presentations, business plans, and project assessments.

Grade Requirements:

• Applicants should normally possess GCSEs with Grades A–C, including English Language and Mathematics or Mathematics – Numeracy at grade C / grade 4 or above.
• 32 UCAS tariff points from at least 1 A-level or equivalent.

English Proficiency:

• International students need to show proof of English proficiency with an IELTS score of 6.0 overall and no component below 5.5.

The annual tuition fee to study BSc Sport Management with Foundation Year at Cardiff Metropolitan University is £16,000 for international students for full-time study. Students should also expect a tuition fee increase of a maximum of 10% each year.
