BSc Nursing Child

Course Overview

The BSc in Nursing (Child) at Canterbury Christ Church University prepares students to care for infants, children, young people, and their families. Students gain both theoretical and practical knowledge, enabling students to be competent, compassionate, and sustainable practitioners. Learning is gained through a balanced approach, with half of the study time spent at the university and the other half in practice placements across various settings hospitals, schools, and community environments.

Students use simulation suites, which offer well-equipped practice rooms that look like real hospital wards, where they can gain hands-on experience.

The programme's learning experience involves direct interaction with children and young people, with real-life issues discussed during sessions. Students explore areas such as health promotion, clinical skills, person-centred care, evidence-based practice, and interprofessional working.

Students are assessed through multiple-choice examinations, written assignments, portfolios, case studies, group presentations, and dissertations. Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Child Nurse.
