LLB Law with American Legal Studies

Birmingham City University

Course overview

The Birmingham City University LLB Law with American Legal Studies programme is designed for those wishing to become solicitors or barristers. This degree aligns with the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) standards and also fulfils the Bar Standards Board's requirements for an undergraduate law qualification. The curriculum thoughtfully blends academic theory with practical application, with a strong focus on developing essential lawyering and other valuable transferable skills.

The course uses various assessment methods that go beyond traditional written tasks. Students are also encouraged to join extracurricular activities, such as the successful Mooting Society. The curriculum provides pathways for specialisation, including the American Legal Studies option, and gives practical experience through placements, the BCU Law Clinic, and a unique US internship programme.
