BA Game Technical Art

The Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Game Technical Art at Birmingham City University brings together imaginative skills and modern technology. This degree is designed to train students to work as technical artists in the games industry. Birmingham City University (BCU) is a government-funded university located in Birmingham, which is a city in England. It became a university in 1992. Before that, it was known as the City of Birmingham Polytechnic, which was created in 1971 when several colleges joined together. One of these colleges was the Birmingham College of Art, which was around as far back as 1843. Today, BCU is one of the biggest universities in Birmingham and offers many different degree courses for students. The university has also won awards for its work in games, including the Excellence in Games Research Award at the TIGA UK Games Education Awards in 2024, and an award for ‘best educational initiative and talent development’ at the TIGA Games Industry Awards in 2023.

Grade Requirements

• Applicants can gain admission at a Standard offer if they possess 112 UCAS Tariff points. For the Accelerate offer, candidates need 80 UCAS points. Other suitable qualifications include passing an Access to Higher Education Diploma with 60 credits overall, and at least 45 of those credits need to be at level 3. An International Baccalaureate minimum of 28 points overall is also considered.

English Proficiency

• International students need to showcase proficiency in English. They will require an IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no lower than 5.5 in each component.
