LLB Law with Foundation Year
Course overview
The LLB Law (with Foundation Year) at Bangor University is a five-year programme that provides an alternative route into undergraduate study if you do not currently meet the entry requirements for the standard three-year degree. This Foundation Year is designed to help you get ready for university-level studies and gives you a chance to see what learning at a higher level is like.
Studying LLB Law (with Foundation Year) from Bangor University ensures you build a strong academic base before beginning your legal studies. In the Foundation Year, you will learn essential skills like academic writing and presentation. You will learn how to conduct independent research, retrieving information from a range of appropriate sources, including cases, statutes, and other legal sources.
Upon successful completion of the Foundation Year, you will join Year 1 of the main LLB Law (Hons) degree programme. A law degree develops many practical competencies beyond barrister or solicitor training, including research skills, an analytical mind, the ability to listen, form sound arguments, and quickly process complex information.
The course is taught through a combination of lectures, tutorials, group work, self-study, and project work. Teaching and learning methods used vary according to the subject matter and module level.
