MSc Clinical Pharmacy

Course Overview

The University of Strathclyde MSc Clinical Pharmacy is a one-year full-time course for non-UK qualified pharmacists who are seeking to develop clinical skills in delivering pharmaceutical care. The program provides you with advanced professional training for becoming a safe and effective practitioner. Students in this course will be taught by experienced pharmacists who are mostly registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

The curriculum for this course includes major clinical therapeutic areas like respiratory, cardiac, and mental health, alongside concepts in Quality Improvement and service re-design. In this course, students' progress will be assessed through a series of assignments which will be based on clinical evaluations, including written reports like medicine information queries and pharmaceutical care plans, as well as scenario-based examinations.

About University

The University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, is a well-known university which has a good reputation in research and the quality of teaching. It has a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in four faculties. They are the faculties of Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science (in which the MSc Clinical Pharmacy is located), and Strathclyde Business School, which offer a great variety of study opportunities.

Entry Requirements for Egyptian Students

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying to the course and provide other relevant information about their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CV along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants need a minimum second-class (2:2) Honours degree, or its international equivalent, in Pharmacy.
  • Applicants must also have a minimum of 18 months post-study clinical experience in a patient-facing role, evidenced by their CV detailing work experience and duties.
  • This experience requirement is waived for applicants holding an MPharm from the UK or Australia, or a DPharm from the USA or Canada, obtained within the last five years.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need a minimum overall score of IELTS 6.5, with no individual component score below 5.5.
  • Equivalent test scores such as TOEFL or PTE are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The annual tuition fee for international students on the MSc Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Strathclyde is £31,850.

Scholarships

There are several scholarship opportunities at the University of Strathclyde to assist students with their studies. These include the Glasgow 850 International Masters Scholarships, which can offer awards of between £5,000 and £8,000 to eligible international students. There are also Faculty of Engineering Dean's International Excellence Awards, valued at £7,000 to £10,000, for exceptional applicants. The university also offers a 15% tuition fee discount to its alumni who are returning for a postgraduate taught course.
