BSc Biochemistry Microbiology

Course Overview

The BSc Hons in Biochemistry & Microbiology at the University of Strathclyde is a flexible four-year undergraduate programme. The first two years are designed to give students a broad understanding of biosciences, covering modules such as "Cells and their Molecules" and "Organisms and Diseases," before they specialise. This structure allows students to confirm their degree choice at the end of the second year.

In the final two years, students focus on their chosen disciplines. The Honours year includes an individual research project, which can be laboratory-based, and a dissertation. The programme has strong links with industry and the NHS, and offers opportunities for students to work on enterprise projects with pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies.
