Overview

Studying a BA in Marketing and Consumer Psychology is designed to enable students to understand how consumers buy, behave, and experience products and services. Students will learn to develop marketing techniques and campaigns that influence consumer behaviour. 

The Foundation Programme will equip students with the critical skills needed to progress to a full honours degree in marketing and consumer psychology. Through this programme, students will learn to apply consumer insights methods and theories to different marketing scenarios, enabling them to develop a thorough understanding of current marketing issues.

This marketing degree is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), meaning if students graduate with a 2:2 or higher, they will gain exemptions towards CIM Certificate and Diploma modules, helping them fast-track their professional marketing career.

Entry Requirements

Grade Requirement

  • 104-112 UCAS Tariff Points with qualifications equivalent to the UK A-levels in subjects such as economics and business studies. The typical grade range is BBC.
  • BTEC Extended Diploma: With grades ranging from DMM (Distinction, Merit, Merit).

English Proficiency

  • Non-native English speakers may need to demonstrate proficiency in the language, typically through an IELTS score of at least 6.5. TOEFL or other equivalents are also allowed.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for the 2025/26 academic year for international students in the BA Marketing and Consumer Psychology program is approximately £16,900. This cost is mostly curated towards tuition and does not cover additional costs related to the program.

Scholarships

The University of Derby offers several scholarships and bursaries to both domestic and international students. To be eligible, students must first receive an offer of study from the university.

This offer applies to full-time and part-time campus-based master's programs and applies to students who have graduated from a full-time or part-time undergraduate degree course at the University of Derby. This offer also applies to any graduate wishing to progress onto an online postgraduate program.

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT British Campaign, this scholarship program offers financial support of £10,000 to eligible students from India pursuing one year of postgraduate study at the University of Derby.
