BSc Economics and Data Science
Course overview
The BSc Economics and Data Science at the University of Sussex is a joint-honours course designed to meet the growing demand for economists with advanced digital and big data skills. The programme is set up this way because there is a strong and increasing need for people who understand economics but also have modern digital and big data skills. Your time will be split equally between the two subjects, ensuring you gain a strong foundation in both.
This programme is focused on giving you the practical skills, knowledge, and confidence to tackle complex, real-world challenges, ranging from constructing socioeconomic policy to assessing individual behaviour. You will be taught by specialists from both the University of Sussex Business School and the School of Engineering and Informatics.
By the end of the course, you will have advanced data skills for analysing and working with very large amounts of information. Crucially, you will also learn how to present and communicate this data clearly, including making great visualisations. This powerful combination of skills will make you ready for many job roles as an analyst in fields like banking, research, economic advisory firms, and government work.
