BEng Electronic Engineering with foundation year

University of Surrey

Course overview

The BEng Electronic Engineering with Foundation Year from the University of Surrey allows students to learn the latest developments in electronic and electrical engineering through high-quality teaching and access to the university's laboratory, fabrication and 3D printing facilities. Students will study specialist topics, including electrical machines, power electronics, power engineering, communication systems, renewable energy generation and control engineering.

The Foundation Year enables students who do not meet the university's entry requirements to apply for this degree in an Engineering and Physical Sciences field. This additional year of study helps them develop the necessary skills and prepares them for university learning. On successful completion of the foundation year, students will be ready to progress to the first year of their BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree.

The programme is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partially meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer. Students' progress will be assessed using a variety of methods suited to the module content and activity type. These include: coursework, essays, examinations, presentations and reports.
