BEng Biomedical Engineering

Course Overview

The BEng Biomedical Engineering course brings together engineering and medicine to help solve difficult healthcare problems. The studies focus heavily on clinical applications, teaching important subjects such as how the human body moves, medical sensors, designing artificial limbs (prosthesis), and implants. This three-year degree is officially approved by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

Students are taught by academic staff who have been educating biomedical engineers for more than 50 years. They will be able to use outstanding equipment, such as a clinical human movement laboratory. The optional Professional Training placement year lets students get useful work experience with major companies like GE Healthcare, 3M, and Abbott Diabetes Care.
