MEng Civil Engineering

Course Overview

The MEng Civil Engineering at the University of Surrey allows students to learn the principles, design, construction, and maintenance of infrastructure projects, including buildings, bridges, roads, and water supply systems that shape and define the world we live in. Students will learn through lectures, tutorials, practical challenges, industry speakers, site visits, and field trips.

Studying the MEng Civil Engineering in the University of Surrey will allow students to follow the same curriculum as those taking the BEng Civil Engineering programme for the first 3 years,  before completing a major third-year project on a topic of their choice. MEng students then undertake a master's year, which covers the full academic requirements for becoming a chartered engineer.

The academic year is divided into two semesters of 15 weeks each. Each semester consists of teaching, revision/directed learning, and assessment.
