MSc Industrial Biotechnology

The MSc Industrial Biotechnology programme is a one-year course for students with a life sciences, chemistry, and engineering background. The course contains core subjects and optional subjects, which cover areas like bioinformatics, bioprocessing, and synthetic biology, that will make sure students understand and choose their preferred career path.

Students are assessed by coursework, examinations, and a research project. An industry placement of at least ten weeks is an important part of this course, allowing students to gain professional experience. This approach prepares students for the professional world after their studies.

Candidates need to submit a personal statement and relevant information regarding their studies, an academic and/or employer reference, and their CVs to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

• Candidates need a 2:1 undergraduate degree or an International equivalent in biology, biotechnology, chemistry, chemical engineering or a similar subject.
• Candidates who have relevant work experience will be considered.

English Proficiency:

• Applicants need to score at least 6.5 overall in the IELTS test, with no component below 5.5.
• Other English language test scores, such as PTE Academic and TOEFL IBT, are accepted, amongst others.

The international students’ tuition fee for the MSc Industrial Biotechnology programme at the University of Strathclyde is £31,250.

The University of Strathclyde offers various scholarships to help international students fund their master's degrees. Strathclyde University offers a scholarship of up to £12,000 for some students and a 15% tuition fee discount for its own graduates who are pursuing another postgraduate course. These scholarships can reduce the financial burden of studying abroad.

Some students may receive awards ranging from £9,000 to £12,000, while others might be eligible for automatic scholarships worth £6,000 to £8,000 simply by applying for postgraduate courses.
