Entry Requirements for Pakistani Students

Candidates must submit an application that outlines their academic history and professional experience. Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants need a second-class honours degree or equivalent in a related science subject. Candidates will have studied or have some knowledge of biochemistry, genomics, cell biology, immunology, microbiology, or biotechnology.
  • Professional experience and other qualifications may be accepted for applicants who do not satisfy the standard academic requirement.

English Language Requirements:

  • Applicants from non-English-speaking countries need to showcase English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 overall, with no single component score below 5.5. Optionally, they may submit equivalent test scores. This requirement is waived for applicants who hold a degree from a United Kingdom university or a majority English-speaking country.

Cost of Study

For the 2026 academic session, the full-time tuition fee is £19,950 for international students joining the MSc Biotechnology at the University of Portsmouth. Please note that the tuition fee is subject to an annual increase.
