PhD Physical Geography
Course overview
This research programme in Physical Geography at the University of Lincoln offers an opportunity for students to undertake an in-depth research project focused on understanding the physical processes that shape the Earth's surface and climate. It explores how these processes change over time, which is crucial for addressing global challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss.
Through independent research, regular meetings with supervisors, and participation in departmental seminars, conferences, and research workshops, students will develop key skills essential for careers in academia, research institutions, and spatial analysis.
The learning and assessment within this PhD programme are primarily centred around the student's independent research project. Students will be expected to demonstrate consistent progress annually, culminating in submitting a research thesis. The final assessment involves a viva voce examination, where the student defends their thesis and demonstrates their contribution to the existing body of knowledge or the development of new understanding in their field.
