BSc Psychology
Course overview
The aim of the BSc Psychology at the University of Gloucestershire is to help students learn to think about psychology and identify the hidden assumptions that underlie how psychology is usually taught and practised. Psychology is a multifaceted discipline that examines topics from the operation of brain cells to the behaviour of people in social settings. Often, these topics are considered with a ‘one size fits all’ approach, based on traditional assumptions that are seldom challenged.
Students are encouraged to engage with that challenge and to think about which assumptions and approaches may be more traditional than right. Students will consider how psychology reflects society and emphasise the need to consider insights from other disciplines and from other cultures.
The instruction’s goal is to support students in becoming skilled thinkers who are well prepared for further training and careers in research, professional psychology, and a wide range of related disciplines.
