Course overview

The LLM International Commercial and Business Law with Professional Placement at the University of Essex course looks closely at the complex and changing laws that control how businesses operate in the UK, Europe, and worldwide. It will strongly increase students' knowledge of important legal topics, such as the rules covering goods, services, internet use, protecting data, consumer rights, and the environment.

This is a two-year, full-time course that includes a very important professional placement year. During this time, students will get hands-on experience working in a legal or business setting. Their studies will be graded using a combination of coursework and exams. The programme ends with a mandatory 12,000-word research paper (dissertation) on a topic that students choose themselves.
