MSc Strategic Engineering Management
Course overview
The MSc Strategic Engineering Management at the University of Derby is an accredited degree that meets, in part, the academic benchmark requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng). Graduates of this programme who also hold a BEng (Hons) accredited for CEng will be able to show that they have satisfied the educational base for CEng registration.
The course will prepare students for management and leadership roles, especially in the engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain fields. Students will be able to tailor their studies to match their needs, whether they are an experienced engineering professional looking to move into management or a recent graduate exploring new career options.
This course is delivered through a combination of lectures, tutorial classes, case study discussions, work-related learning activities, research-based learning and computer lab sessions, which give students hands-on experience of using software. Assessment involves a blend of exams and coursework, both individually and as a group. A dissertation completes the course.
Entry requirements
Interested candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. An academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CV along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.
Grade Requirements:

Applicants are expected to have an appropriate engineering or science undergraduate degree (2:2 or above) or an equivalent professional qualification or significant industrial and professional experience.
English Proficiency:

Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds usually need an overall IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each of the four components.

Alternatively, equivalent qualifications like PTE and TOEFL are also accepted.

Biomedical Science Excellence Scholarship
Two awards of £1,000 are available, and will be awarded as a tuition fee reduction in the second semester. Each recipient will also be allocated up to £500 to use to attend a conference.
