BSc Computer Games Programming
Course overview
The BSc Computer Games Programming from the University of Derby allows students to gain both the knowledge and the practical skills they need to develop first-rate games. They will gain an in-depth understanding of computer science and the theories that make up software development.
Students may choose to take an optional industrial placement year, which will add substance to their CV and broaden their professional networks. They will benefit from the flexibility of transferring to another course in the Computing department during their first year.
The knowledge from the course prepares them for long-term employment and success as a computer programmer of any kind but applies in particular to computer game development. In their final year, students get to work with students on the BA (Hons) Computer Games Modelling and Animation degree to create a game. The games are then exhibited as part of the university's Games Expo, where the public will get to try out their creation.
