BA Entrepreneurship and Theatre

Course Overview

The BA (Hons) Theatre and Entrepreneurship at the University of Derby blends creativity with business skills. The course will prepare you to launch your own venture within the theatre industry. You’ll explore theatre-making techniques such as directing, stagecraft, and workshop preparation while also gaining essential entrepreneurial knowledge.

About University

The University of Derby started as a Diocesan Institute for teacher training in 1851.  It achieved university status in 1992 and since then has been known for its special teaching and strong emphasis on practical experience.

Entry Requirements

To study BA Entrepreneurship and Theatre at the University of Derby, the following requirements must be met:

Grade Requirements

  • Students must have at least 112 UCAS Tariff points from A-Levels.
  • Pass Access to HE Diploma with 60 credits: 45 at Level 3 with a minimum of Distinction: 15, Merit: 24, Pass: 6. 
  • BTEC Diploma at DMM.

English Proficiency

  • International students whose first language is not English must achieve a minimum IELTS score of 6.0, with at least 5.5 in each skills area. Other recognised tests like TOEFL or PTE Academic can also be used to demonstrate English language proficiency.

Cost of Study

International students who want to enrol in the BA Entrepreneurship and Theatre course at the University of Derby are expected to pay an annual tuition fee of £16,900. For local students, the annual tuition fee is £9,535.

Scholarships

The University of Derby offers a variety of scholarships and financial support options for international students. One of the key scholarships is the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship, which provides a £2,000 reduction on first-year tuition fees. 

Additionally, through a partnership with the British Council, the GREAT Scholarship awards £10,000 to eligible Indian students enrolling in a one-year postgraduate course starting in September 2025.

Postgraduate students can also apply for the Chevening Scholarship, which fully covers tuition fees, accommodation, and flights. International students may further benefit from Sports Scholarships and various tuition fee discounts, including full payment discounts and the international alumni discount, which can be combined with other scholarship opportunities.
