BSc Sports Therapy

University of Lancashire

Course overview

The BSc Sports Therapy at the University of Lancashire trains students to assess, treat, and help recover sport-related injuries. Students learn anatomy, physiology, movement analysis, manual therapy, rehabilitation, and exercise prescription. They work with real athletes, testing muscle and movement and supporting performance. The course aims to develop safe, skilled, and confident practitioners who can work in sport, health, fitness, and rehabilitation settings. The programme is aligned with the Society of Sports Therapists, so graduates are well placed for professional practice.

The course is taught full-time over three years. Students also spend time in practical labs, workshops, and placement settings with real clients or athletes. Students are taught using lectures, practical sessions, labs, workshops, and supervised practice. They use real-life equipment, work with clients, and perform motion analysis and injury assessments. Assessment includes exams, lab reports, project work, case studies, practical demonstrations, portfolios, and a final honours project. Both technical knowledge and hands-on skills matter. Feedback is given regularly to help students improve.
