BEng Civil Engineering

University of Lancashire

Course overview

The BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is for students who want to learn how to design and build things like roads, bridges, buildings, and water systems. The course teaches both the theory and practical skills needed to work as a civil engineer.

Students learn through a mixture of classroom teaching, laboratory sessions, fieldwork, and real project experience. The university has modern laboratories and workshops where students can test materials, study soil and structures, and use engineering software for real challenges. Field trips and group projects give students real experience of how civil engineering works. Students are assessed based on coursework, practical work, projects, group activities, presentations, and exams.

After finishing the course, graduates are ready to work in civil engineering or continue their training to become professional engineers.
