BSc Adult Nursing

The BSc Adult Nursing at University College Birmingham (UCB) is a three-year programme designed to prepare students for a fulfilling and impactful career in healthcare. This degree equips students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to deliver person-centred, high-quality care while developing critical thinking, compassion, and professional independence within modern clinical settings.

Students will complete at least two placements in a variety of healthcare environments to gain practical experience and learn to meet the needs of diverse patient populations. The course is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), meaning that graduates are eligible to register as professional nurses with the NMC upon completion.

Applicants must submit a personal statement detailing their motivation to study Adult Nursing and any relevant academic or professional experience. Applicants with prior healthcare experience or a demonstrated passion for nursing may be considered even if they do not meet the standard academic entry criteria. A CV outlining relevant experience may also be submitted with the application.

Grade Requirements:

• Applicants require 112 UCAS points from A-levels or equivalent qualifications.
• Preferred A-level subjects: Biology or Chemistry.

English Language Requirements:

• IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.0 with no component below 5.5.

For the 2025/2026 academic year, the tuition fee for international students enrolling in the BSc Adult Nursing programme at University College Birmingham is £16,000 per year.

International students are entitled to different scholarships. These scholarships include the Care Leaver Bursary, which provides £2,000; the British Scholarship, offering £10,000; and the Santander Brighter Future Scholarship, providing £1,000.
