Doctor of Professional Practice

Course Overview

The Doctor of Professional Practice (DrPP) is a doctoral degree that supports experienced professionals who wish to advance their practice in various disciplines. The programme focuses on building new knowledge and developing professional practice using advanced research, critical thinking, and practical application. Full-time study in this programme lasts three years, and part-time study takes four years.

The programme includes three modules at Level 8, then a major Professional Practice Doctoral Research Project (300 credits), which is a viva voce examination. Learning includes research and independent study, which is done through flexible options, including attendance, distance learning, or both.

About University

Entry Requirements for Pakistani Students

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement and relevant information regarding their studies, an academic and/or employer reference, CVs to show any work experience, and candidates will also need to have a pre-admission discussion with the University.

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates should have completed the equivalent of 120 Level 7 credits in the form of a postgraduate diploma, Master's, or MPhil qualification, obtained in the last five years.

  • A proof of professional experience of at least two years in a similar field, with confirmation from their employer. If the postgraduate qualification was not obtained in the last five years. 

English Proficiency:

  • Candidates should submit an overall score of 6.5 in the IELTS test, with a minimum of 5.5 in each section.

  • PTE Academic and TOEFL IBT are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for international students for the Doctor of Professional Practice programme at Teesside University is 17,000. Note that this is subject to change annually.

Scholarships

Teesside University offers several scholarships for international students. The Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship offers £7,000 for outstanding students, while the British Council GREAT Scholarships provides £10,000 for Master's programs. Also, Global Excellence and Africa Excellence Scholarships offer £2,000 fee waivers for eligible students. For PhD studies, the university offers fully-funded research opportunities, covering fees and providing a living allowance. These scholarships recognise academic excellence and support students.
