BA Sport Coaching and Physical Education Top-Up
Course overview
This one-year top-up degree is perfect for students who have already earned a Foundation Degree, HND, or similar qualification in a sport-related area. The course is all about blending coaching theory with research and practical skills to equip students with professional, evidence-based methods for teaching and coaching. Students focus on core modules like Games-Based Coaching and Teaching Physical Education in Schools, and complete a major Dissertation on a topic of their choice.

Entry requirements
Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information about their studies. An academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their Curriculum Vitae along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.
Grade Requirements:
- Applicants must have completed a Foundation Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or equivalent qualification (240 credits) in a sports-related subject, with an overall pass at Merit level (a 55 per cent average).
- In addition, candidates must have a Grade 4 or above (previously Grade C) in GCSE English and Mathematics.
English Proficiency:
- Applicants whose schooling was not taught in English must show they can use the language effectively. This is usually met by achieving a minimum overall score of 6.0 in the IELTS Academic test, with no score below 5.5 in any of the individual components, or by submitting an equivalent recognised English language test score.
