MSc Cyber Security

The MSc Cyber Security at Sheffield Hallam University teaches students methods to help firms, businesses, and organisations protect their databases. This course is suitable for students who want to learn how information hosted on the internet can be safeguarded to help companies progress. They will also understand cybercrime, its effects, including how loss of control of critical equipment can cause damage to human health.

In this programme, students will learn about ethical hacking, including its divisions into white-hat hacking, grey-hat hacking, and black-hat hacking. White-hat hacking protects computer programmes, networks, and data from cyberattacks that aim to steal, damage, or destroy sensitive information or extort money. Students will learn about Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, Hacking Techniques and Countermeasures, as well as Network and Information Security.

Additionally, this degree is accredited by CIISec, the Chartered Institute of Information Security. CIISec is the only institution focused on information and cybersecurity that has been granted Royal Charter status. Learning in this course is through lectures, tutorials, seminars, workshops, conferences, practical projects, and group sessions. Assessment methods include quizzes, tests, assignments, and examinations.
