BEng Honours Aerospace Engineering

Course Overview

The BEng (Honours) Aerospace Engineering course runs for three years and trains students to solve engineering challenges of aircraft and spacecraft within that period. The course is accredited by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, which helps students meet part of the requirements for registration as Chartered Engineers.

 

Students will study topics such as aerodynamics, thermodynamics, structures, flight systems, and avionics and focus on solving real-world problems in topics like green aviation and sustainable design. They will learn through tutorials, practical lab sessions, seminars, and project-based learning.

 

Students will be assessed through exams, coursework, case studies, presentations, phase tests, vivas, and portfolios and an industry placement where they will gain experience and earn a diploma in applied professional practice.

Entry Requirements for Pakistani Students

Candidates are to submit a statement where they discuss their reasons for applying for the course, an academic and/or employer reference and  CVs along with their applications.

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates need 72 UCAS Tariff points from  A‑level grades BCC -BBC and must have Mathematics and two science and technology subjects e.g Physics, Computer Science.
  • A GCSE grade C or 4 or above in Mathematics and two science and technology subjects.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants need to score at least 6.0 overall in the IELTS test, with a minimum of 5.5 in each section.
  • Other English language test scores, such as PTE and TOEFL IBT, are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for the BEng (Honours) Aerospace Engineering course at Sheffield Hallam University for the 2025/26 academic year is £17,155.

Scholarships

Sheffield Hallam University offers scholarships to support students in their academics, such as the Transform Together Scholarships, which can provide up to 50% tuition fee reduction for the first year, and the Vice-Chancellor's Award, which offers financial support to international students. The GREAT Scholarships provide a £10,000 tuition fee waiver for postgraduate students from selected countries, including Nigeria, the Donor-funded scholarships and bursaries are also available for students in engineering fields and offer up to £3,000 per year (totalling close to £9,000 overall). Also, Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are offered to students from Commonwealth countries and Alumni discounts are also available for postgraduate study.
