BEng Engineering Design
Course overview
The BEng Engineering Design at Robert Gordon University has been developed in response to industry demand for engineers who can think creatively and deliver practical solutions to real-world problems. The programme combines strong technical engineering knowledge with design, manufacturing, and product development skills.
Students learn through lectures, workshops, tutorials, and practical activities in the early years, progressing to independent study, major projects, and group-based design work in later years. Assessment methods include examinations, written reports, portfolios, practical tasks, and design projects.
Entry requirements
Applicants must submit a personal statement outlining their motivation for the course and relevant academic or professional background, along with an academic or employer reference. Candidates may also upload a CV to demonstrate relevant work experience.
Grade Requirements:
- Scottish Higher qualifications at BBCC, including Mathematics or Engineering Science, Physics, or Technological Studies.
- Candidates with relevant prior qualifications, such as an HND from a partner college, may be considered for direct entry into Year 2 or Year 3.
English Proficiency:
- Applicants whose first language is not English must achieve an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with no component below 5.5.
- Equivalent English language test scores, such as TOEFL and PTE, are also accepted.
