BSc Chemistry with foundation year

Nottingham Trent University

Course overview

The BSc Chemistry (with foundation year) at Nottingham Trent University is a four-year degree, with one year of foundation and three years of core chemistry modules integrated. The foundation year provides students who did not initially meet the degree-level entry criteria with an opportunity to catch up while learning the basics of the core course. Eventually, it serves as a gateway into university learning.

The BSc Chemistry degree programme at Nottingham Trent University is accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), a highly regarded professional regulatory body for chemists, which grants them the license to practice.

Through over three hundred hours of practical lab experience, students will gain expertise and proficiency in their understanding and application of the knowledge of properties, structure, composition and reactive ability of various substances, and their application in various fields.

The learning is more hands-on, and it is designed as a work-like experience, preparing students for real-world challenges in the chemical industry. The teaching methods include lectures, seminars, practical sessions, and workshops, and evaluation is done through group and lab assessments, practical assessments, exams, and a dissertation.
