Applicants must submit a written application including a research proposal. Shortlisted candidates will go through an interview as part of the selection process.

For those applying for a PhD by public works (including publications or other work in the public domains), a portfolio must be submitted along with a 500-word statement explaining how these publications are interrelated.

Grade Requirements:

• Applicants are expected to have at least one of the following: an undergraduate degree, usually with a class 2:1 or international equivalent; or a master's qualification or equivalent (professional practice accreditation)
• Candidates need to enrol for the MPhil programme and transfer to a PhD once they have made enough progress with their research· 

English Proficiency: 

• Candidates must demonstrate competence in the English language. The most commonly accepted evidence is an IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in all components.

The tuition fee to study a PhD in Business School at Middlesex University in the 2025/2026 academic year is £16,000.
