BSc Midwifery with Professional Registration Shortened Programme for Registered Adult Nurses

Course Overview

Middlesex University’s BSc Midwifery with Professional Registration (Shortened Programme for Registered Adult Nurses) is a 20-month conversion course that enables adult nurses to become midwives.

The programme combines theory and practical experience. Students learn in the university’s advanced simulation suites—designed to replicate real clinical environments—and gain hands-on training during clinical placements at NHS hospitals. This course is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and is aimed at preparing independent midwives.

The structure is split 50:50 between classes and placements. Assessment methods include written assignments, presentations, reports, and practical evaluations in clinical settings. By building on existing nursing knowledge and skills, the course equips students to transition effectively into midwifery practice.
