Course Overview

This Biochemistry degree at London Metropolitan University teaches students how life works at a molecular level. Students study biological molecules, metabolic processes, cell function, and genetics. The course offers a 15-week work placement to gain real lab experience. Teaching happens in a world-class Science Centre with so many workstations and specialised labs for microbiology and tissue culture. Students work under expert guidance to develop strong lab skills and understanding of how living systems function.

In addition to the scientific knowledge, students develop transferable skills necessary for employment. Students learn through lectures, lab workshops, and one-to-one supervision. They are assessed using essays, lab reports, presentations, and exams. The final research project encourages independent thinking and scientific writing. Graduates of this course may apply for membership of the Royal Society of Biology. The degree also prepares students for further study at the MSc or PhD level.
