Course overview

The BSc Biotechnology at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is an undergraduate degree that explores how we can manipulate living organisms and biological processes to create new products and technologies. The programme focuses on solving major global issues related to health, food, and the environment. Students will gain practical, hands-on experience in modern laboratories.

Entry requirements

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement explaining their reasons for applying for the course and any other relevant information about their studies. A reference from a teacher or employer is also required. Students can upload their CV to show any work experience they have.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants need to have grades equivalent to BCC–BBB (104–120 UCAS points) at A-level. They must also have a grade C or above in either Biology or Chemistry.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to submit test scores.
  • The minimum requirement for IELTS is an overall score of 6.0, with no section below 5.5.
