BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Course Overview

The BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Liverpool John Moores University helps students develop the skills and knowledge to design, build, and manage modern electrical and electronic systems. The course is highly mathematical; students will study power systems and renewable energy (which occurs naturally on the Earth), like wind energy, solar energy, and hydro energy. These are obtained from the wind, sun, and water. They will also learn digital electronics (how appliances function), telecommunications, and control engineering.

The course combines theory with practice and is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). It prepares students for careers in the energy, transport, telecommunications, and electronics industries. Students also benefit from well-equipped laboratories and opportunities to apply their learning to actual projects. Learning is delivered through lectures, tutorials, and laboratory work. Assessment includes examinations, coursework, lab reports, and a final-year project.

About University

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) has two main sites: City Campus and Mount Pleasant Campus. To get there by car or taxi takes around 10-15 minutes, and by bus, it takes 20-25 minutes to reach Anfield, Liverpool Football Club’s stadium. And that is what makes the university interesting. Aside from the academic excellence brought by LJMU’s dedication to quality learning, students can also watch one of the most decorated clubs in Europe in action. Additionally, LJMU has one of the best libraries and mini resorts in the UK, and it is no surprise that the university bagged a Zero Strategy award from the Energy Managers Association in 2024.
