BEng Civil Engineering with Foundation Year

Course Overview

The BEng Civil Engineering with Foundation Year at John Moores University is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and hands-on experience needed to become a work-ready civil engineer. Through laboratory sessions, field trips, individual projects and design classes, students will apply the knowledge gained from lectures and tutorials, while developing their practical abilities in surveying and design. They will also build professional skills, such as teamwork, project management and communication

The Foundation Year serves as a pathway for students, equipping them with a solid academic base and the necessary skills and knowledge required before progressing into the BEng Civil Engineering programme. This programme enables students to design and build sustainable infrastructure, explore the challenges of civil engineering and develop the skills needed to address them.

About University

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a publicly funded research university located in Liverpool, England. It gained university status in 1992 and was named after Sir John Moores, the founder of the Littlewoods retail chain.

Entry Requirements for Pakistani Students

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement explaining their reasons for applying for the course and providing relevant information about their academic background. A relevant academic or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to include their CV with their application to highlight their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants are expected to hold 80 UCAS tariff points obtained through qualifications such as A-Level, BTEC Extended Diploma and International Baccalaureate. 

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants whose first language is not English need an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in each component, or equivalent qualifications such as TOEFL and PTE.

Cost of Study

For international students enrolling in the BEng Civil Engineering with Foundation Year at John Moores University, the tuition fee for the 2025/26 academic session is £18,250.

Scholarships

Liverpool John Moores University provides a range of undergraduate scholarships for international students. If you are self-funding your studies and classified as an international student, you will automatically be considered for a scholarship worth up to £4,000. To qualify, you must accept your offer, meet all academic requirements, and show that you have sufficient funds to cover your living expenses and other costs.
