Course overview

With the BEng (Hons) Architectural Engineering with Foundation Year at Liverpool John Moores University, students gain the knowledge to design and integrate energy-efficient building engineering systems within innovative architectural structures.

In this course, students will study areas such as mathematics, technical and professional skills, building design, and low-carbon engineering solutions. They will also complete design projects and a final-year dissertation. All these will equip students with the expertise to work across architectural, building services, and engineering sectors.

The foundation year is perfect for candidates without the minimum entry requirements for the full degree. It is also designed for those returning to education after a long break. Upon successful completion, students will transition into the full BEng Architectural Engineering programme.

Teaching and learning for this 4/5-year programme combine lectures, tutorials, seminars, and project-based learning. Assessment is mainly through coursework, design projects, and presentations.

Entry requirements

Grade Requirements:

  • Minimum of 64 UCAS points from a combination of level 3 qualifications such as A-levels, BTECs, International Baccalaureate, or other equivalent qualifications.

English Proficiency:

  • Non-native English speakers may need to demonstrate proficiency through an IELTS score of at least 6.0, TOEFL, or other equivalents.
