MSc Structural Design Construction Management with Sustainability

Course Overview

The MSc Structural Design & Construction Management with Sustainability at Kingston University focuses on the challenges and opportunities facing the concrete industry in meeting the demands of sustainability. Students will learn how the design, building and operation of structures can manage their environmental impact. Students will have access to a modern environment with the latest technology and industry-standard equipment. This programme is certified by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM). 

In this programme, the students will examine and develop their knowledge in key areas including concrete technology, sustainable construction, earthquake engineering, steel and concrete building design, fire assessment, and construction management. Each module is a combination of lectures, practical laboratory work, group work, case studies and presentations. The assessment methods include exams, practicals, coursework, and a final dissertation. Students can opt for a placement year after passing all modules in the first assessment.

Entry Requirements for Pakistani Students

All applicants are required to submit a personal statement discussing their interest in the MSc programme and relevant academic or professional experience. A reference from an academic referee or employer is required, and a CV may be uploaded to show any relevant experience. 

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants should hold a 2:2 or above honours degree or equivalent in either civil engineering or structural engineering.
  • Candidates with suitable industrial experience will also be considered.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants who do not speak English as their first language need an overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no element below 6.0.
  • Alternative tests such as PTE or TOEFL are accepted.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for this programme is £17,600 per year for international students. Tuition fees are reviewed annually and are subject to change.

Scholarships

Several scholarships and bursaries are offered by Kingston University to international undergraduate and postgraduate students. The scholarships are worth £5,000 towards the first year's tuition fees. When the scholarship is awarded and students pay the full tuition fees in advance, there is a deduction of £5,000 from the initial total fees. The £5,000 deduction is done on the final instalment if students are paying by instalments. The GREAT scholarship, which provides financial support of £10,000 towards tuition fees, is available to international students.
