Course Overview

The Heriot-Watt University MSc Biomedical Engineering programme, run jointly with the University of Edinburgh, helps students build on their engineering and science knowledge to understand how biomedical engineering is used in real life. Entry Requirements for Pakistani Students

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CVs along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements: 

  • Applicants normally need a good Honours degree (first or upper second class) in a relevant subject, or equivalent international qualifications.
  • The university also considers those who possess compensating qualifications or relevant experience, especially given the practical nature of the programme.

English Proficiency: 

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to demonstrate English language proficiency by having an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with no band score lower than 5.5. 
  • The university accepts other test scores, like PTE and TOEFL.
