BSc Radiotherapy and Oncology

Course Overview

The BSc Radiotherapy and Oncology at Glasgow Caledonian University is designed for students who are committed to planning and delivering cancer treatments using advanced radiotherapy technologies such as CT and brachytherapy. The students are equipped with the professional skills necessary to become therapeutic radiographers registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

The learning areas in the course are applied biological and physical sciences, oncology management, radiotherapy physics, anatomy, physiology, research methods and professional practice. Students also develop digital imaging skills and clinical decision‑making in interdisciplinary teams.

The teaching methods include lectures, workshops and seminars, while assessments are through written exams, assignments, presentations, case studies, reflective reports, practical exams and a final year research project. Practical elements include lab‑based simulations using cloud‑based planning software and digital imaging systems, supported by clinical placements in both large cancer centres and local NHS settings.

Entry Requirements for Pakistani Students

Applicants must submit a personal statement setting out their interest in radiotherapy and any related academic or health care experience. One reference, academic or professional, is required, and a CV may be uploaded to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants typically require BCC at A-Level, including one science.
  • Alternatively, BTEC DMM, Access to HE and HNC/HND in science or health‑related fields are accepted.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants who do not speak English as their first language require an overall IELTS score of 7.0, with a minimum  6.5 in each component.
  • Accepted alternatives include PTE or TOEFL iBT.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for this course is £15,200 per year for international students. Tuition fees are reviewed annually and may change.

Scholarships

Glasgow Caledonian University offers scholarships to international students to support them financially. Scholarships such as the GREAT scholarships, worth £10,000 towards tuition fees,  the Postgraduate Ambassador Scholarship, and the Chancellor Yunus Scholarship are available to students who satisfy the eligibility criteria.
