MSc Advanced Computer Science

The Cardiff Metropolitan University MSc Advanced Computer Science is a postgraduate degree designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop high-quality computer-based systems and oversee their creation and upkeep. 

The programme aims to meet the increasing global demand for advanced Computer Science graduates through a blend of practical learning and theoretical study. It holds accreditation from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

The course covers compulsory modules such as Algorithm Design & Analysis, Cloud & Edge Computing, Wireless Networks, and Information Security, alongside a Technology Dissertation. Assessments include coursework, research assignments, practical assessments, presentations, and a dissertation. The programme has September, January, and May intakes, with a duration of 12-18 months full-time or 3 years part-time.

Grade Requirements: 

• Applicants should hold, or expect to obtain, an undergraduate honours degree with a minimum 2:2 classification in a relevant field such as Computing, Information Systems, or Engineering.
• Alternatively, a suitable professional qualification from an appropriate professional body may be considered, with its relevance determined by the Programme Director.

English Proficiency: 

• Applicants whose first language is not English need to demonstrate English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 overall, with at least 5.5 in each component. 
• Applicants can submit equivalent test scores from other recognised qualifications, such as TOEFL and PTE. 

For international students pursuing the MSc Advanced Computer Science at Cardiff Metropolitan University, the full-time tuition fee is £17,600.

Cardiff Metropolitan University offers several scholarships for international postgraduate students to assist with tuition fees. All international applicants are automatically considered for these awards at the point of offer, and a separate application is usually not required. Available scholarships include the International Scholarship, which can provide a tuition fee reduction of up to £3,000. 

The Vice Chancellor Scholarship may offer up to £3,500 for eligible MA and MSc programmes with a specific fee structure. Additionally, a Full Fee Discount of up to £1,000 is available for students who pay their fees in full by a set deadline. Alumni of Cardiff Metropolitan University may also be eligible for a 20% reduction in course fees.
