BSc Healthcare Science

Course Overview

The BSc Healthcare Science (Life Sciences) is funded by the National Health Service (NHS) in Wales, and is designed to train skilled Healthcare Scientists. The programme is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and it runs for three years.

The programme encourages graduates to specialise in areas like Blood Sciences and Infection Sciences. Successful graduates of this programme are expected to work in the NHS in Wales, contributing to patient care and diagnosis.

Students are using lectures, tutorials, e-learning, and clinical placements throughout the entire course. Entry Requirements for Pakistani Students

Candidates need to submit a personal statement and relevant information regarding their studies, an academic and/or employer reference, their CVs to show their work experience and a DBS and occupational health check. Candidates may be invited for an interview.

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates need 112 - 120 UCAS points including A-levels, T levels or equivalent in subjects such as Biology and another science subject (chemistry, physics, psychology, IT, maths, geography, food technology or environmental science).
  • Other international qualifications equivalent to A-levels are also accepted. A GCSE at grade 4 or C or above in English, Mathematics and Science is accepted.

English Proficiency

  • Candidates need to score at least 7.0 overall in the IELTS test, with no component below 6.5.
  • Other English language test scores, such as PTE Academic and Cambridge Assessment English, are accepted, amongst others.

Cost of Study

The international students’ tuition fee for the BSc Healthcare Science (Life Sciences) programme at Cardiff Metropolitan University is £16,000.
