LLM International Commercial Law

Course Overview

The LLM International Commercial Law in Buckingham New University is designed to enable students to gain a solid understanding of law and business on a global scale to fully prepare them for practice in this field. Students will develop their understanding of core concepts and theories in international law and business, as well as learning alternatives to the judicial process such as mediation and arbitration. 

Throughout the Buckingham New University LLM International Commercial Law, students will explore how international business operates through trade, licensing of technology, and foreign direct investment. The course also offers the opportunity to specialise in areas such as dispute resolution, international trade, and intellectual property.  

Students will demonstrate key skills,  including critical thinking, problem-solving, and practice-based writing, helping them prepare for both professional and academic careers in this area.

Entry Requirements

Applicants seeking admission need to submit a personal statement. This document should explain their reasons for applying to the course and provide other relevant information about their academic background. An appropriate academic and/or employer reference is also required. Candidates have the option to include their CV with their application to showcase their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants should hold a first degree in Law (or a subject in a related discipline, such as Business, Accountancy and Finance) at a minimum of 2:2 or an equivalent qualification. 
  • A postgraduate diploma in law or in a cognate discipline, or other international equivalent. 

English Proficiency:

  • If an applicant's primary language is not English, evidence of English proficiency is required. The minimum requirement is an overall score of 6.0 in IELTS, with no component score below 5.5. 
  • Other equivalent test scores, including PTE and TOEFL, are also accepted.

Cost of Study

For international students, the annual tuition fee for the LLM International Commercial Law at Buckinghamshire New University is £15,550.
