BEng Civil Engineering

The BEng Civil Engineering course teaches students how to design, build, and maintain important structures like buildings, roads, and bridges. It focuses on making these projects sustainable and using new ideas. This course helps students find solutions and learn about how structures stand up, how soil works, transport systems, environmental issues, and solutions for global challenges, such as climate change and making cities smarter.

Students will learn by doing practical projects, working in labs, and doing group tasks. This helps students to use what they learn in real-world situations and improve their thinking and project skills. Students will be graded through written work, reports, digital models, tests, and presentations. The university has excellent facilities, including labs for testing materials and a Virtual Reality CAD Lab. You can also choose to do an optional year working in a company to gain valuable experience.

Buckinghamshire New University started in 1891 and became a university in 2007. It now has over 8,000 students at its campuses in places like High Wycombe and Aylesbury. The university offers many different courses for both new students and those studying for higher degrees. These include subjects like Art, Business, Engineering, Health, and Psychology. The university is known for its programmes in pilot training and music industry management.

All applicants need to send a personal statement explaining why they want to study the course and other details about their education. A reference letter from a teacher or your employer is also needed. You can also send your CV to show your experience.

Grade Requirements: 

• Applicants need good grades from their secondary school, particularly in subjects like Mathematics and Physics, and at least a Grade 4 (or C) in GCSE Mathematics and English.
• The university reviews each application individually, considering all your qualifications and experiences.

English Proficiency: 

• If English is not your first language, you need an overall IELTS score of 6.0, with no section scoring below 5.5.
• Alternatively, you can provide scores from other approved tests, such as TOEFL (at least 79) or PTE Academic (at least 59 overall).

For international students, the course fee for BEng Civil Engineering is £15,150 per year.

Buckinghamshire New University offers various scholarships to help international students with their fees.  Some international students can get a £1,500 scholarship for their first year if their tuition fee is at least £15,000. This scholarship can also be spread over three years, giving you money each year as you progress. You might also get a £500 discount if you pay your full tuition fees early, by August 1st, for a September start.
