MEng Civil Engineering Flood and Coastal Engineering

Course Overview

The Brunel University London Civil Engineering (Flood and Coastal Engineering) programme is designed to create highly skilled engineers who can tackle complex challenges in the natural and built environment. The course begins with a common first year across engineering disciplines, followed by a focus on core civil engineering subjects like material science, structural analysis, hydraulics, and surveying in the second year. 

Students then have the option to specialise in "Flood and Coastal Engineering" from their third year onwards, with advanced study in areas related to water management and climate change resilience.

This programme emphasises practical, hands-on learning within state-of-the-art laboratories and incorporates industry-standard engineering software. Students are taught by experienced academics and benefit from guest lectures by industry professionals. 

The MEng degree is fully accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM), meeting the educational requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. An optional work placement year is available between the second and third academic years, providing invaluable professional experience and enhancing employability.

  • Applicants need 120 UCAS points. This can be from A-levels (with grades between AAB and ABB), an International Baccalaureate Diploma (30 points), a BTEC National Extended Diploma (DDD), a BTEC Diploma (DD), or a T-level (Merit). 
  • The university also accepts international qualifications that are similar to A-levels.

English Proficiency: 

  • If English is not your first language, you need an IELTS score of 6.0 overall. No part of the test (like reading or writing) should be lower than 5.5. 
  • Brunel University London also accepts similar scores from other approved tests, such as PTE, BrunELT, and TOEFL.

Cost of Study

Scholarships
