BSc Nursing - Mental Health

The Birmingham City University BSc Nursing - Mental Health degree is designed to prepare students with the clinical skills and practical experience needed to become professional practitioners in mental health nursing. The programme includes clinical placements in various mental health settings across the Birmingham and Solihull area, complementing the learning provided by university experts. This course is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), which allows graduates to apply for Registered Nurse Status upon completion.

The course combines university-based study with hands-on practical experience. The first two years involve integrated learning alongside all other fields of nursing, providing a broad understanding. In the final year, the focus narrows specifically to mental health nursing theory. Assessments include lectures, seminars, skills simulation, virtual learning, and engagement with practice partners and service users.

Grade Requirements: 

• The standard offer requires 120 UCAS Tariff points, including A Levels, BTEC Extended Diploma, BTEC Diploma, T Levels, or International Baccalaureate. 
• A-level equivalent international qualifications are also accepted.

English Proficiency: 

• Applicants whose primary language is not English need an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with no individual component scoring below 5.5. 
• The university also accepts other equivalent English language test scores, like TOEFL and PTE.

The annual tuition fee for international students taking the BSc Nursing - Mental Health at Birmingham City University is £17,690.

Nursing students who are eligible for a student loan will receive at least £5,000 a year in additional funding to help with maintenance and associated study costs. The university also notes that students who have previously received a student loan for an undergraduate degree may still be eligible for funding for a second degree in nursing.
