LLB Law with Politics
Course overview
The LLB Law with Politics at Bangor University helps students gain a deep understanding of the current legal and political issues that affect society. It examines how these two subjects connect. Law establishes the structure and rules governing how a country and its government operate. Politics, in turn, uses law as a tool to control, protect, and change society. In this degree, students learn about this relationship.
Students can choose subjects that match their interests as they study. These choices include special topics such as international law (rules governing relations between countries), family law, and medical law. Students can also choose practical subjects that are useful for the exams required to become a solicitor (the SQE), such as Business Law or Property Practice. Choosing these subjects gives students a clear way to prepare for a professional legal career.
Teaching takes place through a mix of lectures, small-group discussions (tutorials), group work, self-study, and one-to-one supervision. The teaching methods change depending on the subject being studied. The university makes the study of law practical. Students take part in mock trials and internal debates. They can visit law firms, courts, and government agencies. They also get to hear talks from practising lawyers, legal experts, and police officers.
Graduates of the LLB Law with Politics from Bangor University find work not only in courts and law firms but also in local and national government, research institutes, banks, and even with the United Nations, in countries all around the world.
