PhD+: Tactile Sensing with AI Accelerations for Smart Mobility Systems

Aston UniversityBirmingham, United Kingdom

Course overview

This project proposes an AI-enabled tactile sensing framework for driver fatigue detection in smart mobility systems. It will exploit advanced tactile and pressure-sensing surfaces, combined with intelligent signal processing and machine learning, to capture subtle changes in posture, grip, seat pressure distribution, and micro-movements associated with fatigue progression.

Key highlights

  • Develops AI-enabled tactile sensing for driver fatigue detection
  • Uses advanced tactile and pressure-sensing surfaces
  • Combines intelligent signal processing with machine learning
  • Analyses posture, grip, seat pressure and micro-movements linked to fatigue
  • Research focused on smart mobility systems
