MSc Exercise and Physical Activity for Special Populations and Healthy Ageing

Course Overview

The MSc Exercise and Physical Activity for Special Populations and Healthy Ageing is a postgraduate course at Middlesex University. It was the first of its kind in the United Kingdom to focus entirely on prescribing safe and effective physical activity for individuals with the most common chronic diseases and for those who are ageing. The programme is intended for graduates and health professionals who wish to enhance their knowledge and practical skills. It promotes contemporary professional practice, enabling students to undertake research and learn current methods for prescribing exercise to special populations, including post-COVID-19 patients.

Students will gain an understanding of how to manage 18 common health conditions through exercise prescription and will learn to support their professional choices with evidence-based practice. This Level 7 qualification, the highest available for these subjects, includes compulsory modules such as Clinical Sciences and Nutrition, Exercise Prescription and Management, Research Methods, a Dissertation, and a Work Placement. The course is currently subject to validation but is open for applications.
