BSc Midwifery Registered Midwife

Course Overview

The BSc Midwifery programme prepares students to become independent and responsible practitioners. The course is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). This programme lasts for three years and is divided between academic study and clinical practice placements, helping students to build experience in areas of antenatal, labour, and postnatal care.

Graduates of this programme can apply to be registered professionally as a Registered Midwife in the United Kingdom. This course covers modules from managing normal physiology to dealing with complex health conditions and emergency care in obstetrics, all through the course.

Students learn using lectures, seminars, group discussions, online modules, and extensive practical simulation sessions in facilities, including a birthing suite. Assessment includes assignments, examinations, and evaluation of clinical practice by supervisors.

Entry Requirements for Egyptian Students

Candidates need to submit a personal statement and relevant information regarding their studies, an academic and/or employer reference, and their CVs to show their work experience. Successful candidates must attend an interview and go through health checks and a Criminal Records Declaration (DBS) check before enrolling.

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates need an A-level qualification at BBB or equivalent.
  • All candidates must also have GCSEs in English Language, Mathematics, and a Science subject at a minimum of Grade 4 (C).

English Proficiency:

  • Candidates need an overall score of 7.0 in the IELTS Academic test.
  • Other English language test scores, such as PTE Academic and TOEFL IBT, are accepted, amongst others.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for the BSc Midwifery (Registered Midwife) programme at the University of Surrey is £17,500, which is subject to change yearly.
