Overview
The BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Foundation Year and Placement at the University of Surrey provides students with an in-depth understanding of specialist areas such as electronic circuits and systems, embedded application design and interfacing, and electrical transmission and distribution. It equips them with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience needed to become a work-ready engineer.
The Foundation Year prepares students with the necessary academic skills for the bachelor's degree. It is designed for those who do not meet the standard direct entry requirements and would benefit from extra preparation before undertaking degree-level study.
Through laboratory sessions and a range of practical activities, students will learn from lectures and tutorials. They will also have opportunities to complete work placements and sponsorships through the university's strong industry connections.
The programme is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council, fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partially meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.
